NAVIGATING THE WATERS OF THE GLOBAL MARKET BEGINS WITH UNDERSTANDING THE PERSON ACROSS THE TABLE

I wrote an article for the San Diego Business Journal called “NAVIGATING THE WATERS OF THE GLOBAL MARKET BEGINS WITH UNDERSTANDING THE PERSON ACROSS THE TABLE” that discusses the importance of cross-cultural training for all companies that are in or entering the global arena. So far it’s been very well received. Please let me know what you think by clicking the link above which will take you to the PDF of the article on my site. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Denise,
    Congratulations!
Great article. Simple and right to the point.
I wonder if there are any metrics/statistics that show or illustrate how many business relationships failed due to lack of cultural background from one of the parties involved.
    Keep up the good work.

  2. Very good article – needed at this time when we are headed towards a borderless world.
I do come across these situations – when I am not sure whether a handshake would be permitted or not.

  3. A very timely and pertinent article highlighting some of the challenges confronting globalisation and international business on a daily basis.

This is such a “meaty” subject, but you have summarised it accurately and with relevant examples to aid understanding and – hopefully – change. Too many people ignore the pitfalls of international business and are left wondering where they went wrong.

  4. Excellent article, Denise. Cross-cultural training is so important in global business overall, not just for expats anymore.

    Denise,

I love the article! It has practical value and motivates business people of different cultures to learn more about their partners accross borders. You should start a “cross-cultural quiz page in San Diego Business Journal:-)!

    Best wishes from Ukraine,

    Victoria

  6. Denise,
I loved the article in the SDBJ. It’s very timely and relevent since most of us feel like we’re thrust into the global marketplace, ready or not. It’s nice to know we have some where to get help to “navigate” in unfamiliar waters. I look forward to hearing more and more from you.

    Denise,

You are on fire, woman! Keep up the tremendous work. This is a shift in consciousness that requires the attention of the entire world. I see this as a global community service. Thank you for making these connections.”

  8. Would that we all, not just in business but in personal relationships, locally as well as internationally, tried to understand the other person instead of focusing on oursleves, there would be a lot less friction and animosity in the world.

  9. Congratulations on getting published — on the front page yet — of the San Diego Business Journal. I wrote news feature stories for them way back when. Great publication. Nice job!

  10. Once again it can be the simple, small things that make such a big difference. Offending without even knowing one is offending….

Thanks Denise for upping our cultural quotient of knowledge about our fellow humans who grew up with different thoughts and approaches. So valuable!
